October 2012

A day trip out to Emmetts Garden, National Trust, west of Sevenoaks.....on the north downs....

The family went for a walk and thought they would lovingly place me in what they thought as my 'natural' habitat.....put it this way....

WORDS WERE EXCHANGED!!
.....so they bought me an ice cream and all was well with the world....

Oh for a muse of fire!...July 2012

Those nice folk at the Globe Theatre were putting on Henry V...Shakespeare...and dads favourite play....so off we went for a trip....and on the way.....stopped for a few photo opportunities for me...!

By the Thames....

St Pauls in the background....

Millenium bridge over the river.....'dirty old river', Ray Davies
called it in Waterloo Sunset.....

A break in Starbucks....mmmmmmmm....slurrrrrrrrrp!

Heres an unfortunate experience....stopped at the Tate Modern...outside was this...anatomy 'installation' (as the arty types like to call it...me...I would choose other words!)....and yes, thats me....at the bottom of his right leg...I know where all those pipes are about to empty out too!!  Thats why it was a 'dirty old river'......!!!

And so...to the globe....

June 2012

A holiday in Devon....

This included a trip down to Tintagel....and a well deserved ice cream....theres not enough pictures of me having ice creams....and probably not enough ice cream anyway!!

April 2012

A breakout and escape for a quick holiday....they always seem like a good idea...but in April....

Anyway...here I am enjoying myself on Southwold beach...

Actually....the weather wasnt too bad and I even managed a dip in the water....took a while for my wool to dry out mind...!

And we managed to see nesting Sand Martins too....in a sand bank at California Beach....in a place called Scratby....

2011

Off to France again...this time....Normandy....!!

On the beach....in a shady spot as it was lovely and warm....

A visit to Bayeaux was deemed necessary...and worth it too....

The tapestry was probably made in England though, quite how the French ended up with it...tut!  I suppose the French...or Normans...won...so to the victor the spoils....anyway....it was 'discovered' in the 18th Century hanging in the church at Bayeaux....so there it remains...but in a museum...

At the real Bayeaux tapestry.....living in Hastings at the time its all relevant....

It was probably completed in the 1070's well after the battle....its probably not wholly accurate as, as per the usual way of things, the victors get to put their angle on it all....anyway, its the virtually complete story of Willy 1 eventually getting it together to pop over for a daytrip and staying for quite a while...though of course, his demise was somewhat sickening...

Back to the cloth in question...Charles Dickens reckoned it was 'the work of amateurs'...well as there werent any professional embroiderers he was right....but then he wrote tedious books...so all's fair in love and war.....

William Morris wasnt quite so tediously picky as Dickens and it was he who got a team, probably amateurs again' of embroiderers to make a copy of it....well done William...

Having done 1066...and all that...moving on to 1940's....

Thats not a flag hanging on the church...its a parachute....its the re-telling of the story the time the parachute regiment came on down...though one got stuck on the church....rather than panic he kept quiet, waited for the fighting to stop and then ask a passing Tommy to help him down....!

A truck....

A glider....
Above....the terrible gliders...what seemed like a good idea...gliding in to France quietly...turned mostly in to a nightmare with most of the gliders crashing and killing all on board....

Froogy risks being fired back to England....

Having another word...and if im not mistaken, thats my banana!

2010

As lots of photos of me have been...'lost'...the old folk cant remember anything....!!

Luckily my travelling further than the end of the road photos have been preserved...

In 2010 the summer holiday was to France....and first....a risky shot for my travelling companion Froogy....

Being out in the open in France is a risky business with those legs....!

What was once tall and proud has no crumbled to the ground...ruined....

Hallelujah.....in the shade out of the hot sun....but im not complaining....

Where did 2009 go....

Ahem...!

There seems to be somewhat of an issue with any photographs  with me in in 2009....in fact...here is the one and only....

This is a sheeps skull I found on Dartmoor.....not, I will quickly add, on an escape from the prison...though we did in fact pass that on a very misty/foggy day...and a right grey place it was too.

Anyway, back to the sheep....on a wild and windy walk...though I could use the term wild and woolly but I dont think the sheep would be impressed with that saying....not that its impressed with anything now...and there it was, shining bright at the bottom of a hill...so we brought it home to scare people off by claiming it as a voodoo head....!!
